Tina Su is a name to reckon with for the bloggers around the globe. If you ever visit her blog, you’ll be an instant fan of her charisma and grace. I’m ceaselessly amazed at her ability to write every article with uncanny clarity and simplicity that leaves me in awe after reading it.With over 5000 subscribers and countless social media fans, Tina is an inspiration to all of us. I’ve distinct honor to interview her to share her life and her journey as a blogger.
Question # 1
Tina, You are a big proponent of positive changes in life. I also know that you strongly believe in simplicity and clarity. How do you use positive changes in your life to achieve simplicity and clarity for a happy, fulfilling life?
Tina: I’m not sure I understand your question. Positive change in our lives contributes toward personal fulfillment and happiness, because with each positive change, you learn something new about yourself, you gain understanding and you become more conscious. Each positive change in our lives are like baby steps towards a better version of ourselves, and with more conscious awareness instilled in us, simplicity and clarity flows to us naturally. Another way to view it is, we become simplicity and clarity.
Question # 2
You have been an incredible blogger. In less than six months, you have created a huge group of followers. What is the secret of your success?
Tina:
Having a crystal clear vision for what I want, having faith that I can do it, and diving in with massive action without spending any time considering “what if I fail?” I believe that knowing what you want is the main reason why people do not receive what they want, because they have not defined what that thing is. It’s important to not only set goals, but setting goals that are measurable and dated. It is also important to set goals that are relatively believable by you to achieve in a reasonable amount of time.
Question # 3
You’ve been to India recently. What are the lessons learned? Have you stumbled upon a new meaning of life that you can share with my readers?
Tina:The biggest lesson I learned is that it doesn’t matter what I’m doing, as long as I am productive and working towards a goal I believe in. Also, the romantic notion of traveling is just an illusion. Once you are in it, you’ll find that you won’t find the happiness that you were seeking. I’ve written about the lessons I’ve learned from India extensively here: The Mini-Retirement Misconception.
Question # 4
As I know, you work full-time for Amazon. How can you find time for blogging and even more so for the social media?
Tina:It’s pretty easy. When you are doing something you feel passionate about, it doesn’t feel like work and you don’t dread having to do it. If you love something, it doesn’t matter how busy you are, you’ll make a way and you’ll find the time.
Question # 5
What will be your advice to the freelancers who wanted to enjoy blogging as a passion but also wanted to make living from it?
Tina:Just follow your passion and focus on creating value for people reading your content. The rest, such as money, will follow. I think that if your purpose for starting a blog is to make money, then it’ll be very challenging for you, since you may not have the intrinsic passion to back you up, and when tough time hits, it’ll be hard to find motivation. I don’t recommend it if that’s the case. Of the successful bloggers I’ve seen, they would still be blogging even if they didn’t make money from it.
Tina, heartfelt thank you for taking time to share your thoughts with my readers. I personally draw immense inspiration from your writings and I’m sure that others have similar sentiment to share. I urge everyone to visit Think Simple Now to learn what it takes to live life with simplicity, clarity and bliss.
To Your Success,

The statement I learn the most from this interview is her attitude on not asking herself “what if I fail?” I think it’s certainly a huge motivation booster. We can be much more decisive and keep on persisting with the past decision we have made.
Must really thank Tina for the lesson.
Thanks for the interview Shilpan,

It’s refreshing to hear someone say that traveling isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Too often, I hear that travel is a magic bullet for happiness and growth. I think that you can grow regardless where you rest your head. Seems like Tina is proof of this!

Re: with more conscious awareness instilled in us, simplicity and clarity flows to us naturally. Bang on! Who would have thunk it *smile*, but it is so true. As I became more aware of who I truly am, what I truly believe in, and what I truly want from life, simplicity and clarity didn’t just flow in, it poured in! My life is so tranquil and peaceful now. I have reduced my possessions, I have narrowed down my friends to those who really share my values, and my mind is free of the endless chatter of an unclear life.
Urban Panther’s last blog post..Proof is in the lists
Shilpan,
I agree that whatever you do, it should be something that you are passionate about…something that you would do for free. Most people who are very successful have become so because they have followed their passion. Books like “Do What You Love and the Money Will Follow” started to bring that idea into the mainstream a long time ago but so many of us still haven’t gotten it quite right. I think the hard part for many of us is knowing what our passion is after a lifetime of putting it on the back burner in order to do what we think we “should” be doing.
@Robert -
Yeah! We can learn from her positive view of life. Well, I’ve not found a single negative person who has contributed much to this world.
@Sara -
If you read her post that explains her views about the romantic notion of traveling, you’ll get the point across well. Everything starts well but rather dissipates quickly when you face challenges that you had not perceived.
@Daniel & Hunter -
Twitter… Hmm.. I’m not that advance yet to comment on that bird.
@JEMi -
You also write with same passion that Tina does. So, it is natural harmony at work.
@Mare -
I agree with you 100%. She radiates positivity in everything she does so graciously.
@Jennifer -
Yes, she certainly knows what she wants. She has proven that to us clearly.
@Lori -
Most people fail in life not because they are less fortunate or less intelligent than those who succeed. They fail solely for the wrong reasons that inspire them to embark upon an idea.
Shilpan
Clarity and simplicity are great skills to culture. Its very easy to loose the audience in the details. Not a lesson I’ve learned well yet. (laughs)

I have to also agree with “I believe that knowing what you want is the main reason why people do not receive what they want, because they have not defined what that thing is.” It all boils down to the power of intention. If you are clear in what you want, you will pursue it wholeheartedly and not waiver or give up.
Thanks for a great interview!

Power of intention always plays a major role in any success story. I agree with you about knowing what we want is so basic in achieving anything in life.
